Vision Processing

Cameras in vehicles are becoming increasingly common and play a crucial role in modern automotive technology. They are used for various purposes, including safety, convenience, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) spanning various applications from rearview cameras, lane departure warning, in-cabin occupant monitoring systems, and more.

indie’s proprietary image signal processing technology and industry-leading eWarp© enable these emerging safety features, reduce total system costs, and provide advanced camera functionality for interior and exterior applications.

Electronic Camera
Mirror Systems

The evolution of the traditional mirror to electronic camera mirror systems is improving the field of view (FOV), providing richer detail, and enabling adaptive zooming. These systems reduce blind spots and enhance overall visibility. indie’s image processing solutions offer ultra-low latency and dewarped fields of view to enable drivers with a clearer and unobstructed line of sight behind and around the vehicle.

In-Cabin Occupant Monitoring

There is a concerted effort within the automotive industry to combat the issue of distracted and drowsy driving, along with a desire to reduce or eliminate the occurrence of children, pets, etc. left in the vehicle. Camera-based technology is the primary solution used in these types of applications, and critical to the camera’s performance is the new RGB Infrared (RBG-IR) Color Filter Array (CFA) image sensor technology. indie’s solutions provide the processing performance and capability for the image sensor, enabling cameras to capture detail in low-light in-cabin environments by utilizing active Near Infrared illumination (NIR).

Back Up Cameras

Back up cameras have become a key safety feature of vehicles, alerting drivers to potential dangers when moving the car in reverse. Traditional camera lenses often result in a distorted field of view, to solve this, indie’s eWarp technology offers industry-leading distortion correction, creating a clear, ultrawide FOV with no blind spots. In addition, indie’s products include advanced graphics to provide overlays for dynamic parking lines, giving the driver detailed information and precise guidance for parking assist. Our products feature AutoCal© allowing customers to automatically perform calibration at the end of the production line, saving cost and assuring precise camera alignment.

Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD)

The implementation of AR HUDs is still in its infancy, using digital projection to provide driver’s with information on the windshield, such as speed or GPS navigation, reducing the need to look away from the road to access this information. indie is at the forefront of this technology, providing solutions for easy calibration of the head-up display and correcting potential distortion and perspective, to ensure a clear display.
