Dr. Steve Fu is a Partner of WRVI Capital — a technology venture fund established in 2019 focussed on accelerating the monetization and scaling of disruptive companies globally.
Dr. Fu has built a career appreciably increasing corporate value through technology investments and incubation, M&A and restructuring. Since January 2017, he has been with Walden International as a partner in both the WRV venture fund and Walden PE fund.
Dr. Fu was the Chief Strategy Officer of Fairchild Semiconductors, a recognized leader of power and energy management solutions. He led Fairchild’s central R&D teams, new business incubation, partnerships, restructuring and acquisitions. Dr. Fu drove all phases of Fairchild’s merger process culminating in the acquisition by ON Semiconductor for $2.4 billion which closed September 2016. Fairchild saw close to 3x appreciation in stock value during his tenure.
Prior to joining Fairchild, Dr. Fu drove corporate strategy development of Maxim Integrated Products as well as VMware’s desktop virtualization business, a leading Enterprise software company. His work culminated in 10 successful acquisitions, which accelerated Maxim and VMware’s entries into fast-growing markets and significant stock price appreciation. Maxim and VMware experienced gains of close to 4x and 6x appreciation in stock value during his tenure.
During the last four years of Dr. Fu’s eleven-year career at Cisco, he developed and executed strategies for Cisco’s strategic semiconductor practice and emerging technology, consumer, and China investments. Steve’s work culminated in more than 15 minority investments, and 10 successful acquisitions.
Dr. Fu received his Ph.D. EE from Stanford University in 2001, BSEE from UC Berkeley and is a recipient of the President’s scholarship.
Mr. Gunderson has been Managing Director of the venture capital firm Autotech Ventures since 2017, and a Managing Member of the consulting firm Shingebiss, LLC since 1999. Previously, Mr. Gunderson spent 14 years as the co-founder and Managing Director of Nth Power, , a venture capital firm specializing in the energy sector; four years as Senior Partner at CMEA Capital, a venture capital firm specializing in energy and materials; and as Managing Director of Runway Capital. He currently serves as an advisor to Starburst Ventures; as Director and President of Mt. Diablo Pilots Association; and Director and CFO of Herd It Through the Grapevine Herding Dog Rescue, all privately-held companies. Mr. Gunderson is also Chairman of the Contra Costa County (California) Aviation Advisory Committee. Mr. Gunderson received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Stanford University.
Mr. Macdonald joined Bison Capital in 2009. Previously, Mr. Macdonald was a Managing Director of BlackRock Kelso Capital Management from 2006 to 2009. From 1994 until 2006, Mr. Macdonald was a Partner of Windward Capital Partners. Prior to co-founding Windward, Mr. Macdonald was a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of CS First Boston. Mr. Macdonald currently serves on the Board of Directors of Quixote Studios LLC, Indie Semiconductor, and CutisCare LLC. Mr. Macdonald was previously on the Board of Directors of Lime Energy Co., WestStar TV Limited, The Center for Wound Healing, Inc., GTS Holdings, Inc., United Therapies Holding, and numerous Windward portfolio companies, including Mobile Storage Group, Inc., Monitronics International, Inc., Meridian Automotive Systems, Inc., Hollister-Stier Holdings, LLC, HCC Industries, Inc., Financial Pacific Company, Palace Entertainment, Inc., Charter Brokerage Services, LLC, and Tycom Corporation. Mr. Macdonald received an MBA from The Wharton Graduate School of Business and a BS from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann was previously at the helm of Opel and was Chairman of the Board and President. In addition, he was also General Motors Executive Vice President & President Europe as well as a member of the GM Executive Committee.
Dr. Neumann was previously with Volkswagen AG, where he was CEO and Vice President of Volkswagen Group China in Beijing from September 2010 to August 2012. Prior to that he held a number of management positions at Volkswagen, beginning in 1999 as Head of Research and Director of Electronics Strategy. From 2004 to 2009, Dr. Neumann was a member of the Executive Board at German automotive supplier Continental AG responsible for the Automotive Systems Division. From August 2008 to September 2009, he was Chairman of the Executive Board of Continental AG. In December 2009 he returned to Volkswagen AG and took over company-wide responsibility for electric propulsion.
Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann was born on April 1, 1961 in Twistringen in Lower Saxony. He studied electrical engineering at the Universities of Dortmund and Duisburg, where he was also awarded his doctorate. He began his professional career at the Fraunhofer Institute as a research engineer before moving to Motorola Semiconductor, where he worked as an engineer and strategy director responsible for the automobile industry. The father of three children is a passionate marathon runner.
Mr. Woodward is a successful entrepreneur and venture capital investor. He has founded multiple businesses in the technology space with over $3BN of exits including Macromedia, Launch Media, MySpace, Nevenvision, Pulse and Cognet. Mr. Woodward has been an early/lead investor in a number of successful companies including Demand Media, Android, Spin Media, Beachmint, Blurb and various others. He is the founder and Managing Director of Anthem Ventures.
His personal interests include spending time with his children, tennis, wine, movies, travel, and the entrepreneurial process. He is a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and U.S.C.Trojans.
