indie is an Autotech solutions innovator. We focus on edge sensors spanning multiple modalities including LiDAR, radar, ultrasound and vision for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous vehicles, connected car, user experience and electrification applications.
The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) is part of the indie sales and marketing team, responsible for helping find and win business for indie for their geographic and market area. The FAE plays a key role in educating customers of the technical benefits of indie products in their applications. The FAE also supports the customer during the design-in phase. The scope of responsibilities includes customer identification and representing the customer perspective to present a solid internal business case.
This role is key for indie to develop and drive its continued growth by leveraging its core strengths while finding creative ways to apply those strengths to customer issues. The FAE will need to work collaboratively with the marketing, applications, and design engineering teams to identify opportunities, and develop and win designs. The FAE also helps the marketing team identify new end-use applications based on customer needs, leading to new product concepts, roadmaps, and associated strategies.
Job Responsibilities:
Analysis of customer requirements for fit with existing or potential indie products and capabilities
Identification of new business opportunities and classification by attractiveness, technical difficulty, added value likely offered/offerable by indie
Collaboration with sales, marketing and factory apps team to gain accurate and collated information on opportunities
Technical debug of customer-related issues, coordinating with the Engineering department as required, and acting as the representative of Engineering in front of the customer
Management, tracking and progression of customer-related technical issues, expediting resolution of problems and complaints
Strong time management and resource allocation skills
Technical Sales material – use, familiarity and modification of material to optimize it for customer requirements
Participation and initiation of customer-related seminars and meetings to promote indie capabilities and products
Identification and assisted-writing of material needed to help drive sales and technical adoption of indie products

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field
Knowledge of microprocessor-based mixed-signal embedded systems, including firmware development and use
At least 10 years of experience in semiconductor technical roles
Strong sense of customer orientation
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
Engineering credibility in front of customers and within indie
Demonstrated ability to confront tough issues and work under commercial pressure
Expected to travel ~25% of the time (indie HQ, other geographic areas in which your key accounts are present)
Position reports to regional VP of Sales.
