indie is an Autotech solutions innovator. We focus on edge sensors spanning multiple modalities including LiDAR, radar, ultrasound and vision for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous vehicles, connected car, user experience and electrification applications.

Our design team develops custom and standard SoC solutions for automotive applications which integrate advanced digital ICs (Arm®Cortex® MCUs and/or DSP) with mixed-signal IPs into a single System-in-Package (SiP). Mixed signal IPs can include power management, RF, high voltage as well as high speed convertors allowing indie to provide highest integrated solutions to our international customer base.


We are seeking a results-oriented, natural leader with a passion for Design Validation, Application Engineering and customer support to contribute to a growing design team focused on our automotive power product lines that includes wireless charging, USB smart-hubs/power delivery and power management ICs. The successful candidate should have a deep and solid understanding of basic EE concepts and can apply them in a practical lab work environment.


In this leadership position you will be responsible for growing and overseeing a small validation and application engineering team ensuring internal and external customers alike maintain a high-level of satisfaction in a fast-paced development environment.  The team member plays a critical role in creating system level hardware and software solutions for indie's chipsets to support application-level chipset validation, customer evaluation kits, create new customer product collateral such as Datasheets, Application Notes, User Guides and lead customer support including occasional product training for FAEs.  Close collaboration with IC, hardware, software, test/qualification engineering as well as marketing and FAE teams is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the automotive power product line application development in a hands-on lab environment with advanced lab and test equipment

  • Lead and grow a small system validation/application team based on business growth needs and ensure they have the resources and tools necessary to succeed

  • Responsibilities include design verification testing, system level testing, system design, system optimization, and troubleshooting both at chip and system level

  • Develop automation software (Python and LabVIEW) for testing and application support

  • Assist firmware development by defining and verifying application algorithms

  • Participate in PCB development to fulfill and improve system level performance

  • Collect, consolidate and analyze test data for debugging and verification

  • Prepare indie products for compliance and interoperability testing (USB, CAN, LIN, WPC, others)

  • Work closely with the marketing and FAE teams to ensure product launches are successful

  • Develop technical collateral for product launches including demos, datasheets, application notes and technical training material

  • Interact with lead customers on early bring-up and system development. Includes remote and on-site customer support

  • Understand customer system solutions, design requirements and trade-offs and influence customers to make product decisions that best leverage indie’s products and strategic objectives.

  • Work with Marketing to recommend and define new features, performance targets/specifications, product partitioning and/or architectures for next generation products. Be the customer’s technical voice internally.

  • A Master´s degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering

  • 8+ years of experience in design or an application engineering role

  • Strong preference for experience working with Power ICs and/or in the automotive industry

  • 2+ years of management experience or demonstrate the ability to grow into a management role

  • Must have a solid foundation in basic circuits. e.g. know-how to analyze circuits in time, frequency and Laplace domain, and how a feedback system works

  • Must know how to program using common software languages. Knowing Python, C/C++, and/or LabVIEW will be a plus

  • Experience with communication interfaces (CAN/LIN, USB, UART, SPI, I2C, I2S, others).

  • Experience with ARM Cortex M series and various development tools such as IAR J-Link, GCC and ARM Keil.

  • Good problem-solving skills including methodical and systematic approach to debugging issues and proposing solutions.

  • Must be a team player – team culture is very important at indie

  • It is highly desirable for the candidate to have experience on some if not all the circuits: Op Amp, ADC, DAC, LDO and switching mode power converters

  • Lab experience, such as operating benchtop instruments such as DMM, power supplies, oscilloscopes is a plus

  • CMOS analog IC design knowledge is a plus

  • Embedded Firmware and driver level software experience is a plus

  • Strong technical presentation and communication skills with the ability to manage external customer contacts as well as internal counterparts.

  • Ability to work well independently and manage multiple competing tasks in an efficient and productive manner.

  • Travel up to 30% to locations in the United States as well as internationally to support customer engagements.
