Embedded Software Staff Engineer (Industrial Radar Products)

Job Overview:

Symeo, an indie Semiconductor company, is a developer and manufacturer of innovative radar devices for industrial applications. We specialize in precise sensor systems and robust radar solutions for position detection, distance measurement, collision avoidance, and telemetry. This position will report to our Symeo team.


As part of our industrial software team, you will work in a broad, cross-functional team with Software-Engineers, RF- &System-Designers, FPGA-Designers, Applications-Engineers, and other team members. As embedded Software Engineer you will contribute to the software architecture, design, implementation, and test of embedded software running on a variety of processors or SoCs (System on a Chip). You will also have the chance to interact with our customers and analyze the requirements of their applications.


This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the development and evaluation of radar systems for advanced future industrial radar applications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Development of embedded software for radar systems and telemetry systems

  • Definition of test cases and implementation of system tests

  • Verification of system performance in the lab and in the field

  • Maintenance and improvement of our existing industrial radar systems and telemetry products

  • Document software design, coding standards, and test procedures

  • Some travel will be required, might include international

Job Requirements

  • Degree (Bachelor, Diploma, Master) in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable qualification

  • Proficient in programming languages such as C andPython

  • Experience with embedded Linux, preferably Buildroot / Yocto

  • Experience with embedded platforms (i.MX8, Xilinx Zynq)

  • Basic understanding of hardware and software interaction

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug and troubleshoot software in complex embedded systems

  • Expertise in practical use of build systems, continuous integration, and delivery tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence) in a previous position

  • Knowledge of hardware description languages (HDL) and FPGA-based embedded systems

  • Business-fluent English is required, German language skills are recommended
