Functional Safety Manager

Job Overview:

The Functional Safety Manager (FSM) is part of the indie quality team, reporting directly to the VP of Quality. The FSM is fully responsible for all strategic aspects of a FS system and methodology and of specific FS aspects for indie projects. He/she ensures indie product development and manufacturing in line with applicable safety standards and represents indie FS to customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain indie strategy and flow for safety system development, integration, test, verification and validation (HW and SW)

  • Define and install safety processes, safety planning, and concept and safety development flow according to market requirements.

  • Manage and coordinate all FS aspects inside indie in cooperation with development, marketing & sales, manufacturing, other quality groups

  • Plan resources required for all FS activities

  • Be a strategic interface to the customer 

  • Supervise and guide FS engineers in their activities 

Main Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry (e.g. design, test, quality)

  • Senior practical experience in FS aspects specifically in the automotive semiconductor market

  • BS/MS in natural science, Applied Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

  • The successful candidate must have strong management skills and experience in manufacturing and quality engineering and data analysis as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Reliable, accurate and customer-oriented mindset with excellent skills on documentation systems

  • Deep knowledge about international FS standards like IEC 61508 and ISO 26262, proven by training certificates

  • Knowledge about useful safety functionality and diagnostics functions IC  design and test tools and methodology of statistical analysis

  • Experience with automotive semiconductor requirements (AEC), FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, IATF16949 and VDA 6.3is a plus.

  • Domestic and international travel will be required.
