Functional Safety Engineer
Job Overview:
The Functional Safety Engineer (FSE) is part of the indie quality team, responsible for all aspects of a FS system and methodology and of specific FS aspects for indie projects. He/she ensures indie product development and manufacturing in line with applicable safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:

Install safety processes, safety planning, and concept and safety development flow

Perform safety system development, integration, test, verification and validation (HW and SW)

Ensure documentation and traceability of FS aspects

Check technical (customer, project) documents, international standards (IEC 61508, ISO 26262)

Perform risk and requirement analysis and safety management assessments

Consideration and implementation of FS on SoC (chip manufacturer) level and on customer module system level in strong cooperation with indie design and test team

Qualification and certification of SoCs and tool-flows

Continuous alignment with customers through the whole design and lifetime of the product

FS aspects are aligned with further risk analysis methods (like FMEA), with control of customer requirements and documents, and are embedded in the indie management system.
Main Requirements:

5+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry (e.g. design, test, quality); however, highly motivated, open-minded new starters are welcome as well

BS/MS in natural science, Applied Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

The successful candidate must have strong manufacturing and quality engineering skills, data analysis skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Reliable, accurate and customer-oriented mindset with excellent skills on documentation systems

Knowledge about international FS standards like IEC 61508 and ISO 26262

Knowledge about useful safety functionality and diagnostics functions

Knowledge in IC design and test

Statistical skills

Experience with automotive semiconductor requirements (AEC), FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, IATF16949 and VDA 6.3is a plus.

Domestic and international travel will be required.
